Widmer's (WTV) Trade Validator is designed for trading under the
specific guidelines of the NASD's OATS and other like regulations. This
user-friendly system will imprint the time including seconds with all
clocks networked and synchronized to an approved time source such as the
"Atomic Clock".
The system is easily wired as a "home run" or as a "daisy chain"
configuration through the WTV's signal repeaters. Each circuit on a
repeater may have 1 "home run" machine or up to 32 "daisy chained"
machines on it. Signal repeaters can have up to 8 circuits each.
Communication via RS485 data transmission is sent over a twisted pair
of wires, such as category 5 cable.
The PC, which drives the system, communicates via a modem with the
"Atomic Clock" once a day. This signal is locked into a special quartz
crystal timing chip within the PC. This crystal oscillator has time
accuracy of + or - 0.01 seconds per day. Each slave clock clock has a
specific identification code, which appears on its LCD display. Through
a self-diagnostic program, the PC tracks each individual clock to assure
that the signal was received. This information is displayed on the PC's
screen in a user-friendly format. Additionally, any unit not accepting a
valid time signal before the clock is out of sync by +/- 1 second will
automatically shut the printing mechanism down for security reasons. The
LCD display on that trade Validator will then display a flashing message
"Awaiting Synch".
PRINTS IN SECONDS: OATS Compliance
Year/Month/Date/Hours/Minutes/Seconds ATOMIC CLOCK: Computer can be
programmed to receive time signal once, twice, or several times a day.
WWV's signal can be received through a modem or other time source*
SYNCHRONIZED TIME: Computer sends time signal to clocks every minute.
ACCURATE: +/- 1 of a second per day. Clock will not accumulate time
drift because they are synchronized 1440 times per day (OATS allows time
drift of up to 3 seconds per day). AUTOMATIC "NO PRINT": If for some
reason a clock does not receive a signal before it has lost accuracy to
+/- 1 second, a X will be printed and displayed by the clock. If the
time stamp was disconnected from it's AC supply voltage or if the clock
has lost accuracy to +/- 2 seconds then the MACHINE WILL NOT PRINT until
it has received a valid time signal.
INTELLIGENT MACHINES: The clocks when asked by the computer will report
if they have received a valid time signal or not. If the connection is
temporarily disabled then the computer will report that the clock may
not be in the network anymore as a MACHINE DOWN ALERT.
*Widmer can connect this system to any one of several time signal
systems at the customer's request.
